Hello Readers, Hope you are enjoying the summer!!
Today, I am going to share 10 best lessons that I learn from my favorite self-help books.
Lesson 1 – Wake up at 5am everyday – As we all know the benefits of waking up early but only few apply this rule. My favorite author Robin Sharma mentioned in his book – “The 5AM Club” https://a.co/d/bY72xXT, that in order to develop your mindset, to become successful in your field, you must wake up early and do the tasks that average people don’t do. Also, how the world’s smartest individuals, business moguls, and brilliant brains begin their days to accomplish incredible feats. He stated in his book the perfect morning routine to make the hour between 5 to 6 your own and become a true member of the 5AM club. The first hour of your day is divided into 3 blocks of time. Each block is 20 minutes long. According to the 20/20/20 rule, you use 20 minutes to move, 20 minutes to reflect and 20 minutes to grow.
Lesson 2 – Focus without distraction – It’s a skill that enables you to learn complex material rapidly and accomplish greater outcomes in less time. As we all know distractions are everywhere, the biggest one is social media. It doesn’t mean you should not use social media but how you use it, what content you consume it, that matters a lot. So, I learned this amazing lesson from a book – “Deep Work by Cal Newport” – https://a.co/d/bEyBlp6 In his book, he stated that Deep work is becoming a superpower in the increasingly cutthroat economy of the twenty-first century. Still, the majority of people have lost the ability to unwind, choosing to spend their days in a frenetic haze of social media and emails, not even recognizing there is a better way.
Lesson 3 – Purpose driven life and faith – As mentioned, everyone’s life should be a purpose driven. If you do not have any purpose in life, in what you are doing, your life has no meaning. So, the 3rd lesson I learn from self help books is life with purpose and have faith. Napoleon Hill in his book “Think and Grow Rich” – https://a.co/d/iwJClyh mentioned that purpose not only leads to better future but also better relationships, can influence physical health in addition to the emotional and psychological benefits, having a strong sense of purpose can also help you: Live longer. And faith, you must have complete trust and confidence in whatever you are doing and whatever your dream is.
Lesson 4 – Think Win/Win – As we have come to the half part of this blog, let me share with you another life-changing lesson which I learned from my favorite self-help books. As this sentence itself telling think win/win, so in every situation, you should think that you are winning in every area of your life. Either it’s mental, physical or spiritual. Stephen R. Covey in his book “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People” – https://a.co/d/3wnIu8l states that “In solving for win-win, you must consider two factors: consideration and courage. I also applied this lesson into my workplace, as I set a target in February 2024 for myself to become an Intermediate Billing and Collections associate until August 2024, based on my performance, mindset to reach that goal worked for me. By applying this rule in your life, you can reach to higher mountains.
Lesson 5 – Take Massive Action – As the word itself says take massive action, if we really want to do something in life, then we will definitely have to take a strong action today for our future. I learned this lesson from my 2nd favorite book “The 10X Rule” by Grant Cardone – https://a.co/d/bkWQLKC. In his book, Cardone mentioned that – when you are taking massive action, you aren’t thinking of terms of how many hours you work. I was struggling when I came to Canada last year (October 2023). I had no job, new country, new people, different culture. Initially, I was applying for a job not consistently that caused me 3 months, but I took initiative to spend more time Monday to Friday as work my a**off early morning 8am to 6pm daily. And finally, I got the Job in February 2024. So, when you take massive action, you will definitely get the results you want.
Lesson 6 – Invest, don’t just save – I don’t need to tell you why investing is important. It is clear from what all of us middle class people faced after Covid-19, it is clear that you must invest. Only saving won’t work. I learned this final life-changing lesson from self-help book – “I will teach you to be Rich” by Ramit Sethi – https://a.co/d/057hGCr. Even if you save every dollar and earn $50,000, Sethi argues that you will only have saved $50,000. Don’t get me wrong, saving money is fantastic, but there’s only so much money you can save. Rather than concentrating on preserving every penny, aim to increase income. One way to increase income is by asking for a raise at work or by beginning a side business to earn money on the side.
Hope you all have enjoyed reading these 6 life changing lessons from my favorite self help books. You should read these books before end of 2024 to plan your 2025 with a bang. Let me know your thoughts by commenting below or you can reach out to me at keshav.sarin@outlook.com .. đ
