I had been intending to go to a community event for a long time in order to meet other writers in my area, and I discovered the Writer’s Community event using the Eventbrite mobile application (where you can find seminars or community meetings relating to your hobby). I was reading “The Little Book on Common Sense Investing” when I visited the Toronto Public Library at Yonge and Eglinton in Ontario on the evening of November 24. A gentleman greeted me at the front gate as I was ready to leave the library after finishing my reading. He was discussing a local event with someone when I abruptly asked if he could tell me more about it. ‘Eventbrite’ is a smartphone application that he gave me all the details about while grinning.
In the end, I downloaded this app and signed up for events. I discovered a Toronto Writers Community event scheduled for Saturday, November 30 at 2:00 p.m.
I got excited and prepared to attend this event. Despite the weather, I made the decision to go and arrived fifteen minutes early. A woman at the reception scanned my mobile app to sign me in for the event after I entered a lovely cafe. She informed me that additional people will arrive in a few minutes, and I arrived first. Water and coffee were already provided.
“Writing is an exploration. You start from nothing and learn as you go.” – E. L. Doctorow

Twenty minutes later, a young Canadian couple arrived, and we exchanged greetings. Five minutes later, a gentleman (who was 58 years old, according to him) arrived, and we sat on a cozy sofa with a lovely lamp in the center. We began exchanging information about ourselves, including our names, occupations, passions, and writing endeavors.✍️
The best part, though, was when Mr. Shawn talked about his writing profession and told us that he took a couple online writing classes to get better at it. He advised us to look for and enroll in more classes, both online and off. Shawn’s Biography is the book he is currently writing on his own life. One of the men, “Travis,” who went here to meet his fiancée and loves to write novels, wrote 56 pages as of today. The other pair also discussed their respective writing styles. He made use of a poem he had heard his friend recite.
We all had such great communication when it came to drafting subjects. I made a lot of connections and learned a lot from other writers, which was a first for me. Next time, I hope to join another group and will gain more knowledge!! ☺️
At the end, I am hoping you have also got to learn something from this blog. What are your thoughts? Let me know in the comments or check my X (formerly Twitter) https://x.com/keshav_sarin for more information.
